Pike County was formed in November 1833 by legislatures from Clark and Hempstead counties. The county seat is Murfreesboro.

The economic base is commercial forestry and family farms. Our county is also home to the Crater of Diamonds – 886 acre natural state park just outside of Murfreesboro. It is the only diamond mine in North America. The Caddo River, Little Missouri River, and Lake Greeson offer excellent fishing, canoeing, swimming, picnic areas, camping, and other water activities.
